Finding the Balance

Look, I'm not saying security doesn't matter. It absolutely does. But blanket restrictions feel like using a sledgehammer to crack a nut. There has to be a smarter way to protect what matters while still keeping science open and collaborative.

Maybe it's better vetting processes. Maybe it's clearer guidelines about what research can be shared and what can't. Maybe it's investing more in understanding potential risks rather than just building walls.

The truth is, the best science happens when brilliant minds work together across borders. I hope we find a way to protect our security AND keep that spirit alive. Because ultimately, the biggest threats to humanity — climate change, disease, resource scarcity — those don't respect borders either. And solving them is going to take all of us working together.
